“A good coach will make his players see what they can be rather than what they are.” ~Ara Parseghian

Daniel Shaw
Daniel Shaw is a Dallas, TX native. Growing up he always had a love for basketball and helping others, and neither has changed.
“My goal is to have a child that is “raw”, untrained, and considered not fundamentally sound and turn them into an equipped and well rounded player, by helping them to work on developing one skill at a time, becoming great in that, and then adding additional skills to master. A lot of people that train players train them in every single skill all at once and it is hard to grasp and be effective on the court with that approach. I want the child to harness one skill and then move on to another to harness. This way they can truly develop that one skill, how to use it on the court, and then continue to build their skill set.”
Daniel not only has a love and passion for the game of basketball but he knows the game inside and out. His love started at a young age in Church and grew throughout the years to playing in high school with a couple of years of college basketball under his belt. He was starting point guard and was known as “the defensive stopper”. D&D Athletics has given Daniel the opportunity to take the sport he loves and his desire to help children reach their full potential in sports. His two sons are the driving force to why “now” is the time to embark on this journey of starting with the basics to train a fundamentally sound player. With searching for the best camp to send his sons, Daniel has seen many children playing, including his own, and noticed that most of them are not being coached in a way that maximizes their full potential, so as an assistant coach with Syracuse Select AAU and now with D&D Athletics he plans to change that. It is one thing to coach the game but another to have experienced it from a players perspective and know how to reach them on their level while equipping and preparing them for their next level and Daniel wants to be the driving force to bridge that gap.Dan Ignacio
Dan Ignacio was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. His father, a former Professional Soccer player from Brasil, moved to the States in the 60’s when attempting to grow American soccer was at an all time high. With his father being an instrumental part in Dan’s soccer foundation, he began playing at a very young age and traveled all over with his 2 brothers from tournament to tournament! When they were not traveling, he was home playing basketball with his brothers and friends.
Dan’s commitment to sports never ended. Growing up his life was school, soccer, and basketball. Fast forward to now, just like Dan’s father’s passion for soccer trickled down to Dan, his love for sports has impacted his children. Dan has been coaching for 10 years and the love for his children and making sure they receive the best sports instruction has increased Dan’s interest in coaching. He’s become a familiar face on the sideline of either basketball or soccer. With D&D Athletics falling in place with what he has been doing all along, now he can share his love for sports with your child and other youth in the community.
